So, I've been working on my ASHMAZE obstacle course again. I've been busy updating my course to work with the new update, since it's been broken in many ways. For example, trampoline physics have changed which broke a lot of the trampoline challenges in my world. I've fixed most of them by now.

But then I came across this problem. One part of my world involves climbing up on some vines and then moving along the ceiling on the vines. Basically, hanging.

Movement in this fashion has become painfully slow - it would take 10 minutes to walk along the stretch of vines that it should only take 10 seconds to walk across. Why did you do this, Ari? Please fix the movement code!

Check out my massive obstacle course: ASHMAZE V9F!

I agree fully! I don't like it really that you can't touch the ladders three blocks above yourself.

Another useless removal that I don't like is when blowing up TNT you're standing above, you don't go NEARLY as far as you used to. Blowing up TNT under you & flying through 2-3 loading screens didn't break the game in any way, so why fix it?

Also, when falling, it's way harder to control which direction you fall.

And why dont those self-made-ice-cube-things (where you can shoot yourself way up high) dont work anymore :-(

And also I feel like I get stuck to ladders more than before.

I simplified the small green one. It doesn't have to be 4 blocks deep  :D

@mrob
Yes youre right:D
But I think it works faster/better the deeper the hole(hole? Is that right?) is. Cause at the beginning I digged to bedrock level which is not practical but youll fly higher.
But then I decided to make it only some blocks deep.
Actually it doesnt matter does it ;) ?

But to come back to the original issue of the topic :D:
I agree that it was better in eden 1.7 but in my opinion its not that baaad ;)
Of course its annoying for a longer parcour but I guess we'll have to live with that

It's very bad. Why must we live with it? Does a certain feature ensure it must stay this way?

@jason:
I meant that well have to live with it cause I dont expect ari will fix this. Thats all. Of course there is no real reason it should stay like this.
And @ nathaniel:
No offense but did you always knew what to do?
For example in the small green one you have to wait a while and then destroy the ramp. Or in the other smaller one you habe to wait too and then slide to the left(or to the right :D)

I had seen some of them in other worlds and not known what to do

How high you fly only depends on how long you wait before breaking the ice-slope block.

Try it: drop down, break the ice right away.

Then reset: place a new ice slope block, jump in, count to ten and then break the ice block.

Yes, I know what you mean!  There is no good place to find all these secrets. But here are a couple:

http://edenfans.com/...-and-tricks.php

http://edenworldbuil...m/wiki/Glitches

The lava cannons kill you unless you turn health off (of course).

I also loaded a world called "Glitch World V1 by Dblcut3" and just experimented a lot. Maybe I'll grab that savefile and re-upload it. jump in, try moving, try jumping again, wait a while, try moving or jumping again, and finally if none of that works try breaking blocks.

This topic has been derailed. I am not sure how it became about flying/launching yourself/etc.

I will reiterate what Ashley has stated and ask that Ari fixes the issue with terribly slow movement on vines or ladders (in directions not involving going up or down).

Okay, I finally got around to testing this. Just a very basic setup like this:

5wEu0Oo.png

I also made one out of vines, and I tried the same tests on both.

Walking across the top takes about 1 second, and it takes 30 seconds when hanging from the bottom. Pretty much about as slow as Ashley said.

But guess what? If you're hanging from the bottom, and press and hold the jump button while moving, then you move at full speed!

Eden 2 gives us a choice: We can move quickly when hanging from vines, or we can move very slowly, which I find useful for careful positioning. Particularly if I am trying to take a photo from above, or if I were trying to negotiate an obstacle course and I need to land in a certain precise spot when I drop.

I also noticed, when hanging from the bottom, if I move the joypad control "down" (like I would to climb down a ladder or to move backwards on ground), instead of moving backwards I move down, meaning I am hanging a bit lower off the ladder/vine. I can lower myself about 1/2 to 3/4 of a block this way. If I keep going then I fall off, like you'd expect.
