Some Eden City News.....

So, I haven't posted here in a long time. I haven't done too much, but I thought I'd share some photos of some projects I've started.

EDEN CITY SUBWAY SYSTEM:
I've begun work on a subway train system in Eden City. So far I only have half of one station completed. It will be the main station, and it is located in downtown. The "T" will be on each station - it stands for Train.

The ticket purchasing area:3UafVpn.png

The unfinished train platform:

I added more houses to Shadyside Historic District. Here's the area from above:

HvosxbG.png

Lastly, I am beginning work on a new area of the city. It will probably end up containing the city's high school and maybe a stadium. The houses will probably be tall rowhouses, but I'm not sure yet. I so far only added a roundabout and a few buildings around it. The McDonalds will be moved somewhere else in the world:

Two random buildings there:

More photos of the roundabout and surrounding areas so far:

Also.... Thanks for the compliment Nathaniel! (And to everyone else lol) I've been trying to make the city more detailed. I'm getting better but I still have a lot of work. I'm also considering making a highway far out in the world and making a suburban town where I can build larger more detailed houses - the scale of my buildings in the main city is just too small.

^Yes, (the scale) it is. Which is the main reason I'd be cautious of trying to help tackle interiors for it. So much stuff to work on, and so much of it has little indoor space. I'd probably go crazy.

Lol, yes.... My newer buildings are a bit larger, but still small.

Eden City v9'0 Preview: Chicago!

Here is a preview of the upcoming Eden City v9'0 update! The main new addition is the neighborhood of Ridgewood Park. The neighborhood's theme is based on Chicago and the types of houses and other buildings found in the city. This includes townhouses, brownstones, ect.

Here is an aerial view of the neighborhood so far. The historic Main Street is in the front of the screenshot:

A view from the center of Main Street:

Here are some screenshots of the first residential street in the neighborhood:

I'm going to be adding a few more residential streets and expanding the Main Street area. I may add a small Chinatown street in the area. As usual, suggestions are appreciated!

@Dblcut3 I think Greenland is my favorite of your many worlds.  The size of the village is just right.  The custom terrain looks nice.  I like the small simple houses and @NathanielBrusch designed the interiors well.

My world has been converted to Minecraft PC with a new tool!

You heard that right! A user on the Eden Wiki has found a way to convert Eden worlds to Minecraft PC! The tool is still in early stages, and the colors/blocks it converts to are all still messed up - But it's a great start! Maybe if we banded together to make an Eden texture pack for PC, it would look nicer!

The guy said when he has time he will come here to make a post where he will take requests for converting worlds. In the mean time, here's mine!

Obviously I won't be leaving Eden. But, this tool is pretty cool to play around with! I can only imagine the possibilities once it gets to working better.

Some small updates.....

I am working on a new district called Findlay Square which will have high density residential and commercial buildings surrounding a large park. (Maybe Eden City's version of Central Park?) Currently I've gotten a few buildings done as well as a parking garage.

The road on the left is Main Street (The neighborhood to the left of that road is featured in a post from last month). Not sure how I feel about the red building on the right side - I tried to do some type of Art Deco type theme for it. The alley way in between the buildings leads back into a parking garage.

SBQmygp.png

As you can see in this aerial photo, the parking garage is located in the middle of the block. There will be shops and apartments on each side of the garage. I put it in the middle like that so it didnt waste any street space that could go to better buildings. It is 5 stories tall.

3zgn0wj.png

And the last new thing is a new row of houses in Ridgewood Park (Chicago themed neighborhood):

6WFLDOL.png

This rowhouse is meant to be a modern style rowhouse. Here's a close up of it:oCHcYGL.png

I'm back with more Eden City updates!

I know most people quit Eden, but frankly Minecraft's building mechanics don't really satisfy me, so I decided to keep building on Eden! I have been updating more in my neighborhood inspired by a typical urban neighborhood in a large American city (Such as Chicago or Brooklyn).

The Lofts on Main:

The Lofts on Main is a new apartment building development on the corner of Main Street and Jackson Street. It overlooks Logan Square (the park) and is connected to a parking garage. I haven't built any "modern" apartments before, but I am pretty happy with how it turned out!

New Main Street Shops:

Looking down Main Street towards Downtown. The flag is on the back of the corner store:

Logan Square Park:

Logan Square is a new park being built. It is no where near finished yet, but so far I have some tennis courts, the gate, and some trees done. I plan to add things such as a playground, basketball courts, and possibly an ice skating rink. Think of it as Eden City's version of Central Park. Here is an overhead view of it so far:

nvkWIF2.png

New Houses:

I added many new houses of many styles. Here are a few of the new ones:

Click here for an aerial view of the neighborhood.

Thanks for reading! You can download this new update now if you search "Dblcut3" and download the world called "Eden City v8'8 Dblcut3" - and if anyone wants to make a map of this world, that would be a huge help!!

P.S. : Since Direct City has been discontinued, I will likely make a tribute to it in Eden City by building an embassy building for Direct City. Stay tuned for more updates on that!

Eden City 8'9 Preview:

I haven't worked on too many big Eden City projects recently, but I've done a lot of small things since I last posted an update here. I hope you enjoy! Also, I am considering making a website to roleplay the world of Eden City - basically I would write articles on things such as real estate, politics, news, ect in the world of Eden City. I doubt anyone would look at it, but I like to do nerdy things like that  :D

New Developments in Ridgewood Park & Logan Square:

Logan Park now has an ice skating rink. Another part of the park already has tennis courts. The rest of the park will probably be a typical park area with trees, but I may add other things:

XS6Hsrj.png

I added two more houses on the end of Gallagher Street. That means there are no more open lots on the street, so I will probably start developing the next street over soon. The one building is an apartment building. It didn't look as great as I hoped for, but I like it nonetheless:

solvlum.png

I improved the corner on the far end of Main Street. I tore down a small, out of place looking building that was there and replaced it with a patio. I guess Eden City now has a gay bar, because.....why not?  :P But, I do like the style of the yellow building and hope to build more like it. There is a new blue house to the left - that street will be developed with similar houses soon:

K7damfa.png

I finally decided on a good looking infill building for the tiny lot between the Lofts on Main and the small brown building. It was a really awkward lot to try to fit something in that looked good, but I think I did it well:

FzEKNq4.png

Midtown Urban Renewal Projects:

Some in-world history of the Midtown neighborhood: In the 1970s, the area that is now Midtown was a large residential neighborhood that was polluted with crime. In an extremely controversial decision, city officials decided to demolish most of the neighborhood to make way for a new highway and multiple new highrises. The residents were promised new affordable housing units, but in the end, they were never given them. Many highrises, a Target, and an Apple Store were built in Midtown, but there is still a lot of empty land or surface parking lots.

An Alley in Midtown has been a recent target for redevelopment - On the edge of the street, a run-down corner store building was revitalized:

(Click here for the photo. I had to remove it due to the forums' photo limit)

Upgrades were given to the rear facade of the white building - it now has a cargo loading deck with several garages:

zBLNpaQ.png

Across the street, four new luxury townhouses were built. Many protests were held over them not being affordable housing units that were once promised, but city officials kept the project on track. This development fueled the already existing gentrification in Midtown, and has set up the adjacent neighborhood of Stompton for its own round of gentrification:

JgeJjX6.png

Three new luxury housing units were built on the edge of this alley in Stompton on land that was once a parking lot. These new luxury apartments have driven up rent for the thousands of poor residents in Stompton - many are being evicted, and protests over the rapid gentrification of the neighborhood are becoming common. The McDonalds to the left has been sold to a developer who plans to build a mixed use development, and many developers are trying to buy up houses in Stompton to renovate them:

uG8Q2jn.png

The surface-parking lot in Midtown behind the Rainbow Building has been developed into three luxury townhouses. Like the previous development, this project is causing housing costs in the area to skyrocket leaving poor residents in an uncertain position:

c7pG6tb.png

Chinatown:

Chinatown is being built in the undeveloped area along Market Street in between Shadyside and Ridgewood Park. So far, only the gate and a few houses have been completed - there was a row of houses that I built back in 2013 that I decided to renovate instead of tear down. The side streets won't be Chinese themed, but the main road will be:

Thank you! It took me over half a decade, but I think I now know how to build well on Eden!  :D I will still be building for years to come - I will always try to post here even though no one really sees it anymore. I might try to post on the Minecraft Forums about my world, but I'm not sure if that's allowed or not.
