Just like the title says! I'd personally say a chat room sort of like the one in Clash of Clans. Not only would it reduce date spam, but it would be good to chat! So guys, give your ideas here!

A real game element: Either portals, or small blocks, or far sight. Really not sure which is most important for me :)

Id rather have higher height limit if its a game element.

Smarter and spawnable mobs plus a terrain generator.

I love this topic. Keep it up, guys. I'm listening. What do you mean by terrain generator, Zora?

For an in-game element: More realistic explosions! For example, if you exploded a house, instead of random floating blocks being left, they'd fall to the ground!

Well the one Ari was working on for the 2.0 update. I would live to build on different terrains since I am not that good at making them.

I could really use the different biomes. Id make a city in the normal one and then have some small towns in places like the deserts and mountains.

I think weather would be really cool. It's actually not that hard to do either

Id rather have higher height limit if its a game element.

The problem with a bigger height limit probably is the structure of the savefiles, they would get twice as big with double height, but I agree. The savefiles are also why small blocks won't come with the update.

But Ari told me that he will zip the savefiles locally with the update, they will get smaller. But another problem is the decreased performance with more blocks

How I understood it, small blocks = half blocks? Correct me if I'm wrong

About save files getting larger, in our voxel game we only save blocks that have been modified rather than saving every single block. However, we have to store another byte to represent the position in the world as well as the byte for the block type. But because only modified blocks are saved, usually the files are much smaller. Ari should do this.

Yes, but zipping is also a very good solution: you have large chunks of x0-bytes in the savefiles, so zipping is very effective. But of course the files can be optimized in other ways, too (e.g. not saving any color information for empty blocks)

We don't save anything for any blocks that aren't modified by the player. So if they're left alone, nothing is saved. And all we save for modified ones is 2 bytes - 1 for block type and 1 for block position.

How can 1 byte be enough for the position? Then you can't have more than 256 positions at all, can you? Or is it the position within some chunk or something?

Yes, position within a chunk. I multiply it by chunk coordinates to get it where it needs to go upon placement.
